ARMENIA
From extinct volcanoes to intermountain hollows, Armenia is known for its rugged alpine landscape. Planting trees in Armenia will help boost biodiversity and restore the country's beautiful terrain.
With your help, we will:
- Protect ecosystems by restoring landscapes
- Promote biodiversity and improve ecosystem health
- Empower rural communities with engaged training
OVERVIEW
Once blanketed with trees, Armenia's forest cover has diminished over the centuries due to agriculture and animal grazing. Today, only 11% of the country is forested, and 80% of the land is threatened by desertification. This project is working to reforest and restore what has been lost. Reforestation is an important step in restoring Armenia's unique landscape while also mitigating the effects of climate change.
IMPACT
Restoring the temperate forest mass in Armenia is important to the country's climate change strategy. Every tree planted in this project will help restore landscapes and protect ecosystem health for generations.
This project also makes a positive social impact. From seed collection to forest rangers, the work of improving forest coverage empowers rural villagers through engaged training and increased employment rates.
