With your help, we will:
- Restore coastal mangroves
- Improve the livelihoods of communities
- Stabilize the soil and promote erosion control
WHY WE DO IT
Guatemala has one of the most extensive and diverse forest systems in Central America. From mangrove forests to wetlands, Guatemala is home to an expansive range of ecosystems. Because of its topography, Guatemala is susceptible to landslides, floods, and other natural disasters. By planting trees across the country, we can help restore landscapes and empower local community members to make an impact in their environment.
HOW WE DO IT
Most forest loss in Guatemala has resulted from agriculture and fuelwood collection. Population pressures around protected areas have resulted in illegal timber harvesting and land clearing for agriculture, even inside national parks. Planting trees in Guatemala will be the first step to restoring important lands for local communities and ecosystems. Each tree planted will help promote biodiversity, encouraging a healthier and thriving ecosystem.
